About Kathmandu Model Hospital Institute of Health Sciences (KMHIHS)
Kathmandu Model Hospital Institute of Health Sciences (KMHIHS) was registered at the Office of the Company Registrar, Government of Nepal, Ministry of Industry, Commerce & Supplies, as a not-for-profit company on April 6, 2022 AD.
The main objective of establishing KMHIHS was to jointly operate Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL) programs affiliated with the Council for Technical Education & Vocational Training (CTEVT).
Previously, the Proficiency Certificate Level programs affiliated with CTEVT were operated under phect-NEPAL.
The academic program related to oral health began with the establishment of the Kathmandu Model Hospital School of Oral Health in 2000. It introduced Nepal’s first two-year Dental Hygienist training program in 2000, followed by the three-year Proficiency Certificate Level program, Certificate in Dental Science (Dental Hygiene), in 2005.
The academic program related to nursing started with the establishment of the Kathmandu Model Hospital School of Nursing (KAMHSON) in 2058 B.S. The institution has about 25 years of glorious history in the field of nursing education.
As an additional milestone in the academic field, phect-NEPAL began operating PCL/Diploma Level programs in Medical Laboratory Science, Pharmacy, and Radiography from the year 2075 B.S. by establishing the phect-NEPAL Model Hospital School of Medical Laboratory Sciences.
In accordance with the provisions and directives of the Medical Education Commission (MEC), an institution operating a 100-bed hospital is permitted to run only Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL) or Bachelor’s level academic programs.
Accordingly, the institution submitted a formal request to the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) seeking approval to operate all its academic programs under a single institutional framework.
Consequently, on 2079/06/16 B.S., CTEVT granted approval for all three academic institutions to be operated under the Kathmandu Model Hospital Institute of Health Sciences (KMHIHS).
The institute is dedicated to producing competent and skilled health professionals through quality technical and vocational education while fulfilling its social responsibility.
By providing accessible, practical, and industry-oriented education and training, KMHIHS continues to play a vital role in strengthening Nepal’s healthcare workforce.
